There is also plenty of Arabesque music out there and I will get to that. I am more interested in the Black Sea and Kurdish folk music but it is incredibly hard to find online, and I am also banned from torrents here. Might have to do it the old-fashioned way - head down to the record store, sample a ton of records and pick out my favourites.
oh I love folk music from black sea. I feel like it strongly reflects their struggle with harsh climate & geographical conditions. it alwaysh have a tough character. and mention aegean folk music too! quite sincerely I think ours is the best. very greek tragedy-like. in fact I believe it's the extension of that tradition. unlike black sea coast, the nature is quite problem-free and even helpful there, so people always just had a lot of time to mess with each other and have some drama. they just drank, fell in love and fought.
