I've always loved this album. It's honest and genuine, vulnerable. His condescension is not toned down, but bearable because he still had some sad rage to express. What do you think of what he's done recently?

me too, i love this one. there's this feeling of helplessness which he is able to make comforting.

years of refusal? honestly i didn't really like it. the marching drums, the grungey guitars, i don't know.. it seemed so polished and straight-forward. his lyrics didn't have that sarcastic, satiric tone, it's just kind of a middle-aged whine.

Yeah, I agree. You are the quarry has the same issue as does the one after it (the name escapes me). Any other solo albums you recommend? I have Bona Drag. Can you post Your Arsenal or Southpaw Grammar? I think Southpaw is being rereleased.
